Yesterday the governor gave is State of the State speed to both houses of representatives. Unlike years before he did not focus on the plans for the next year he focused on basically telling the legislators that nothing should be done until the over $40 billion deficit in the budge is closed. He urged representatives “to work together, to sacrifice together and to think of the common good and not our individual good”. But by far I think the best thing that the governor said is the following.
I mean, if you call a taxi and the taxi doesn’t show up, you don’t have to pay the driver. So if the people’s work doesn’t get done, I think the people’s representatives shouldn’t get paid either. That is common sense in the real world.
Lets see if he can pull that off! He is already not getting paid and pays much of his expenses as governor out of his own pocket. Lets see the other leaders of our state do the same.
I find it interesting to read the the transcripts of past State of the State addresses. They are all the same, all talk and little action. Hopefully this year will be different.
