Dear Governor Arnold,
A day or two ago John and Ken were discussing the role vanity played in our current crisis. They were specifically discussing your perpetual need to be liked and loved.Your narcissism has led California into the toilet. You have gone back on almost every major campaign promise you made; all of this was done to ensure that you are remembered as a beloved governor. As with most decisions made out of weakness, this one will backfire. You will be blamed for the turmoil that will ensue. And you will be remembered for being just as gutless, or even more gutless than the “Girlie Man” Gray “Gumby” Davis.
Common sense tells us that an increase in taxes is bad for the economy. Higher taxes mean less job growth. Less jobs result in a slow economy. In dire circumstances higher taxes can and will retard the economy and diminish every Californians’ quality of life .You even intimated this idea in your 2006 “Backwards” campaign commercial.
Why now are you turning your back on all that you stood for. I ask you Mr. Governor: Who is the “girly man” now? After losing all of your ballot measures a couple of years ago you ran off with your tail between your legs. Instead of being a strong leader and governing in a hostile environment, you slithered to the middle working on costly environmental issues, and pandering to the far left. A real leader would have bucked up and carried on. Ironically if you would have stood strong back then we wouldn’t be in this mess now and you would be far more popular. I am looking forward to the day you are termed out.
Californians must stop electing gutless leaders like you who feed on vanity, worry about whether their liked or not, and who are too afraid to take a stand. As with any leadership position, being Governor, is not about being popular, revered, or liked; leadership is about following through on your commitments and doing the right thing.
